Gateway Church has a vision of Transformational Community. That is to say, we are a community of people who believe that God transforms our lives through Jesus’ work on the cross, and we see God’s global plan is to transform the world through His transformed people. We desire for God to conform us to the image of His Son so the broken places in our lives can be renewed and made whole. As this occurs, relationships will be restored, growth will be encouraged, leadership will be developed, and a mindset of serving others instead of being served will be adopted. As this is directly correlated to God’s eternal plan, we will see our work from a very long-term perspective.
With this vision of Transformational Community, Gateway’s mission is to develop compelling maturity in Christ. We are committed to leading people to God through Jesus, encouraging growth and maturity in that relationship and deploying people to live a life that compels others to come to Him. A compelling life is one that is magnetic, invitational, inspirational, and intentional. We agree with Paul’s comments in Colossians 1:26-29 that the most compelling aspect of a believer is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” So this mission starts first as a personal endeavor for each person in the church to be conformed to the image of Christ. As leaders, we strive through God’s power working in us to share the truth of the gospel “so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Our leadership extends first to our own families (1 Timothy 3:1-13) and then to the church, our neighborhoods, workplaces, and every other place that God would give us influence.
