Ephesians 3:14-21
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now, to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen
When I painted this piece, Rooted & Grounded in Love, this passage served as the inspiration.The love of God is a deep and firm foundation, to fully comprehend it; you must be willing to go deep – which can only be done through the help of the Holy Spirit. So, by bowing down to the Father, you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you and take up residence in your heart; thus, giving you strength to fully comprehend the BREADTH and LENGTH and HEIGHT and DEPTH of God’s Love that surpasses ANY (head) knowledge.
When you are rooted and grounded in love, it fills and seeps through every part of you. It is revealed to others from the inside out, and then, is passed on in abundant ways that you can’t even think or imagine. All which brings glory to God for generations to come. As we wrap up this amazing week of “Going Deeper”, ask the Father how you can be rooted and grounded in love today and everyday forward in 2023.
